Opening Ceremony of Kaduna 2018 WACP AGSM was a Huge Success

This year’s AGSM of the Nigeria chapter of the WACP taking place in Kaduna started on a bright note with a monumental opening ceremony attended by close to 450 members and fellows.

In attendance were representatives of the Executive Governor of Kaduna state and the Minister of Health, ably represented by the Commisioner of health and human services Kaduna state, Dr. Paul Dogo and the Chief Medical Director of Ahmadu Bello Teaching Hospital, Prof. Lawal Khalid mni respectively.

There was also a very lucid lecture by Dr. Fatusi, from the Faculty of Community Health that kept the mammoth audience spell bound, on the theme of the conference. The annual Sir Samuel Manuwa lecturer did justice to the topic as people gave a standing ovation at the end of the lecture.

There was an equally interesting Executive Symposium as various Directors/CEO of various relevant Agencies gave a tantalizing exposition of there understanding of the healthcare system in Nigeria, their roles and the way forward. It was very interesting seeing how they debated the best way to achieve universal health coverage and the nagging issue of healthcare financing.

There were two parallel sessions in the morning and later in the day to cap up what would pass as a monumental successful opening of a pace-setting AGSM in Kaduna.

More reports to follow in due course.
